Hong Kong Weather
Although Hong Kong has a subtropical climate, temperatures fluctuate greatly
over the year. Some of the best cityscapes are obstructed by heavy
smog and fog in January and February, while occasional cold fronts
and northerly winds can make for a cool winter season, with temperatures
regularly dipping below 10 C. The humidity starts kicking in during
March and April, and fog remains a particular problem for air traffic
controllers and ferry services, sometimes leading to tour disruptions
or reduced visibility. Heat and humidity rule during the late spring
and summer months, inviting random showers and thunderstorms early
in the morning. Tropical storms are most likely to brew in September,
while refreshing breezes and bountiful rays of sunshine from October
to December make these months some of the best to visit Hong Kong.
