There are many forms of transportation in India. The largest, fastest, and most convenient way of getting around in India is the railroad system. Indian Railroads are government owned and operate all over India. Other forms of public transportation are the bus companies. Bus companies are publicly owned and operated by the state. If you want to get that true authentic feeling of what it was like to live in India back in the day other forms of public transportation such as bullocks, camels, elephants are also offered for a fee. You can always go the safe route, and rent a car, but remember there are many traffic jams in India.
