Vancouver Shopping
|
|
The shopping along Robson Street
is relatively upscale—designer clothing, art and craft
galleries, jewelry stores and chocolatiers. The shops get funkier
in Gastown, along Alexander and Water Streets, where you can
kick back with a cold drink at any of the great bars and restaurants
afterwards (duck inside Gaoler’s Mews on Water Street,
the most charming little spot in the city, which hosts a very
good Italian restaurant with live jazz, Sapori). East of Gastown |
along East Pender Street, Chinatown offers the customary shops and
daily market. Trendy shops and cafés abound in the Kitsilano
section, southwest of downtown, along 4th Avenue and many of its side-streets.
On Granville Island there are plenty of art and craft galleries, and
don’t miss the public market.
If it’s a mall you’re after, head to the Pacific center
(550-700 West Georgia Street; 604-688-7236), located underground
between Granville and Howe Streets. There’s music, clothes,
electronics, a food court, and everything else you’d expect.
