Acapulco. |
Mexico's South Beach.
Situated
in a wide bay with beautiful beaches, sunny weather, craft
markets, exclusive boutiques, varied restaurants, and a famous
nighlife, Acapulco is a natural tourist favorite. The city
attracts around 3.5 million visitors annually.
Of course the growth of tourism since the
1940s has its downside for those seeking a quiet or private
beach. Some beaches are full of high rises and the crowds
from Mexico City (especially on long weekends and during holidays
like Easter week) can make the beach feel a bit too crowded,
but there are still a few quiet beaches where those looking
to enjoy a peaceful sunset can enjoy a tranquil moment.

Acapulco Culture
This city was built on tourism and locals are
used to foreigners. More often than not, they will go out of
their way to speak your language and to make your stay a pleasant
one. Still, respectful attempts to speak Spanish and learn about
Mexican culture will go a long way in making conversation and
meeting new friends.

Acapulco Shopping
Exclusive shops and boutiques are mostly found on the Avenida Costera
Miguel Alemán, where many hotels are also located. Two malls,
including La Gran Plaza and Plaza Bahia, are both located along
this strip.
