Thailand Culture

Thailand is one of the largest travel destinations in Southeast Asia. Thailand offers a rich, deeply spiritual history that lives on through the lives of the Thai people today.

The country is primarily Buddhist with beautiful temples and quiet, peaceful monasteries. More than 90% of the population claim Buddhism as their religion. The second largest religion is Islam.

For many years, Thailand was a kingdom. In 1932, a constitutional monarchy was established and free elections selected members of parliament, but the Thai people still hold the Monarchy in high regard.

His Majesty Bumibol Adulyadej, who currently reigns, is respected by Thais and the international community too. HM is ninth in the line of the Chakri Dynasty and also referred to as King Rama IX.
