Getting Around San Diego
Airline
The most conventional way of getting into San Diego is by plane.
With 22 major airline carriers arriving each day, this is the easiest
form of transportation. The airport is also conveniently located
just 10 minutes from downtown San Diego and near major airports.
Bus
The metro transit service provides transportation throughout all
of San Diego County. You can travel by bus to/from the airport to
all major shopping centers, public attractions, beaches and hotels.
The San Diego Trolley runs every 15 minutes during the day and 30
minutes in the evening. This is an ideal way to get around with
no traffic and easy access to all major sites.
Taxi
Taxicab stands are located at the airport and around most major
sites and hotels. The fair is displayed on the meter and will include
a flag drop charge plus a per-mile and/or per-hour charge. As with
most major cities, cabs leaving the airport all charge the same.
Amtrak
Traveling to/from San Diego or around the Pacific coastline, Amtrak
is a budget conscious option.
Car Rental
Car rentals from all major car rental companies are available throughout
town or at the airport.
Other Options
For those feeling adventurous, take a unique form of transportation:
pedicabs, gondola rides with your sweetheart, horse-drawn carriages
through beautiful downtown, a ferry through the Pacific, or a water
taxi around the coast.
